About 29% of Sri Lanka’s land is covered by forest. The island is home to a rich variety of flora and fauna, making it a biodiversity hotspot in South Asia.

Number of Waterfalls
Sri Lanka is home to over 100 waterfalls, with the tallest being Bambarakanda Falls, standing at 263 meters (863 feet).

Rainfall and Climate
The country experiences two monsoon seasons, and annual rainfall varies depending on the region:

• Southwest: 2,500–5,000 mm

• Northeast and Dry Zones: 1,000–1,500 mm
  Sri Lanka has a tropical climate with consistent temperatures year-round, ranging from 26°C to 32°C in the lowlands.
